To see a one document summary of nationwide legislation that potentialy affects neurological care, visit the AAN.

You can learn about active legislative by first going to the website for either the PA House of Representatives or the PA Senate (depending where the bill originates) and typing in the bill number or keyword in the "Find Legislation By" at the top of the page. These sites will allow you to see where a bill is in the legislative process and its current legislative text.

For instance, if the bill is HB98 (House Bill 98), go to the PA House of Representatives' web site and type in "HB98" on the "Find Legislation by" search option at the top of the page. If the bill is SB119 (Senate Bill 119), it originates in the Senate. Go to the PA Senate's web site and type in "SB119" in the "Find Legislation by" search option at the top of the page.

We have Pennsylvania Neurologists volunteering with the following Issues of Importance to patients in Pennsylvania suffering from neurological conditions:


-- Evaluating appropriateness of legislation to reduce concussion injuries

 

-- Alleviate imaging pre-certification requirements from neurologists

-- Develop improved scope of practice for health care providers performing EMG evaluations

 

-- Evaluating appropriateness of legislation impacting end of life decisions

-- Obtain appropriate reimbursement for level of EMG study


-- Direct medical malpractice reform as it relates to neurological illnesses


-- Oppose prior authorization requirements by public and
private formularies for anticonvulsant drugs for the treatment of epilepsy

 

-- Mandatory seizure reporting

 

-- Develop improved scope of practice for intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring
